Here’s how it works:
APPLY TO THE PROGRAM.
Apply to the program by calling 1-800-371-2109 and ask for an application. You may also download one right here. We will collect some information regarding family size and income from you and let you know if you may be eligible.
COMPLETE THE APPLICATION AND SEND IT IN.
Once you receive an application, you should fill it out in its entirety. In addition to the signed and dated application, we ask for some other documents such as proof of employment and any other income you may receive.
RECEIVE AN ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATION WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS.
We will conduct an eligibility determination and let you know if you are eligible within 30 days. We may request additional documentation depending on your situation.
WAIT ON WAITING LIST (IF APPLICABLE)
We may have to maintain a Waiting List if funds are not immediately available. As children leave the program and funds become free, we will notify you on a first-come, first served basis.
CHOOSE A CHILD CARE PROVIDER.
CCIS is a parent-choice program where you can choose a child care provider of your choice. However, it is important to know that whatever provider you choose must have a current agreement with the CCIS in order to receive payments. You will have 30 days from the time funding becomes available to have your child(ren) enrolled with an eligible child care provider who has a current, signed Provider Agreement with the CCIS. This process may take a while to complete and not everyone is eligible to participate, so it is in your best interest to inquire with your child care provider as soon as possible to see if they have an agreement with CCIS/Apple; you risk losing subsidized child care funding if it extends outside the 30-day time period. Learn more about the Provider Agreement process and requirements. Don’t have a provider or are unhappy with their service? You can conduct a provider search for your specific needs right here.
PAY A CO-PAYMENT IN LIEU OF YOUR CHILD CARE EXPENSES.
Once you come off the Waiting List and are enrolled, you are assigned a weekly co-payment in lieu of your child care expenses. The co-payment must be paid each week to the child care provider. CCIS/Apple will pay an allowable reimbursement rate, which, in most cases, covers the entire child care payment. However, it is important to note that some providers may charge more than what Apple pays and you may be charged the difference by your provider. It is best to ask your provider about these charges beforehand. We will not start paying until you are officially eligible and are notified that payment will begin. We are not responsible for any child care costs incurred prior to your eligibility or funds becoming available, nor will we cover registration fees or any other extra fees (camp fees).
You will be required to report changes as they occur and on a yearly basis. Please speak with your caseworker regarding these changes and the best way to report them.
